Tatton Park (Y6TB)
Year 6 enjoyed a step back in time on their recent trip to Tatton park.
During our visit the Land Girls, who worked at Tatton during the war, set the evacuee children to work, introduced them to the animals they helped to look after and sang popular wartime songs in the air raid shelter. Aunt Mary (who lives in the Farm cottage) showed the evacuees their new home, discussed rationing and produced food cooked on a range as well as talking about household chores and teaching some local and national history related to WW2.
At the end of the day the air raid siren went off and we had to head to the shelter, where we learned about the blitz, blackout and sang songs to keep up our spirits up!
