School Council

Head Boy and Head Girl

The school elects a Head Boy and Head Girl from Year 6 each year. The Head Boy and girl assist the Head Teacher at awards assemblies, event evenings and school concerts.

Role of Head Girl and Head Boy:

• To introduce visitors at weekly school assemblies
• To contribute to school council meetings
• To assist at Celebration Assemblies
• To be Ambassadors at Open evenings
• Meet and greet new visitors to the school
• Guided tour of the school, including entering classes and explaining the role plays, topics and learning environments
• Interviewing new members of staff
• Presenting awards during the weekly awards assembly
• To set a good example to all pupils all of the time

School Council Representatives

Our Academy has an active school council with pupil voice representatives from Years 1-6. Our reception classes also have access to their own pupil voice book containing the minutes from each meeting to help prepare them for the transition into Year 1.

Agendas are created by the school council for each half term. Each week thereafter the representatives meet with the pupil voice lead 'Mrs Henderson' to discuss topics on the agenda and meet with a senior member of staff every half term to discuss issues and developments. The School council hold their own budget and hold fundraisers throughout the year by engaging the Academy in different activities.

These funds are used to purchase equipment for the school that will enhance the learning environment.
