Geography
In this unit, the children will be introduced to different ways of communicating geographical data, particularly through different styles of maps. We will learn to read weather and climate maps, and learn how weather and climate are generalised into world climate zones. The concept of biomes will be explored, each with distinctive soil, flora, fauna and human activity.
Science
In the autumn term in year 3, children will be looking at rocks. The children will have the opportunity to group and compare different types of rocks. Children will begin to look at fossils and understand how they are formed.
Educational Visit
This half term we will be visiting Cadbury World to support our love for reading text ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. During the visit, we will learn about where and how chocolate is made, and take a tour of Cadbury world’s factory.

Art
In expressive arts we will be focusing on Vincent Van Gogh. We will be using a range of pencils and exploring a range of drawing techniques. We will also be drawing portraits and landscapes in the style of Van Gogh.
D & T
In D&T we will design and make a cushion using cross stitch and applique.
Music
In Music this half terms focus is on a song called Let Your Spirit Fly, the children will listen and appraise, sing, play, improvise, compose and perform R&B, Western Classical, Musicals, Motown and soul music.
Spanish
In Year 3 children will start to learn Spanish, children will be able to say and recognise numbers 1-10 and begin to understand greetings.
PE day
PE in Y3 takes place every week. Our first topic of focus is Multi-skills.
