Canalside Farm (Y1EL)
On Friday 21st June 2024 Year 1 visited Canalside Farm.
We started the afternoon with a workshop linking the colours of the rainbow with fruit and vegetables. We explored different fruit and vegetables and discussed how they can keep our bodies healthy. We then went on a walk to look at the different crops that were growing in the fields. This linked nicely to our science topic "Seasonal Changes." The children had the opportunity to look at what fruit and vegetables were available at this time of year. We then went to look at the sleepy pumpkin field and discussed the differences in the seasons. Children were able to make their own links to our story of Paddington Bear and discussed how marmalade and jam could be made. Finally, what we had all been waiting for!!! We got the chance to pick our very own strawberries to take home with us!
