Our Trip to Middleport Pottery 1EL.
In Geography we’ve been learning
About our local area,
So we went to Middleport Pottery —
It couldn’t have been merrier!
On a special heritage trail,
We walked all up and down,
We found out why Stoke’s called The Potteries,
And learned about our town.
We saw the kilns so tall and round,
And heard of long ago,
How pottery shaped our local past
And helped our city grow.
We listened to a Stokie story,
With words from years before,
It helped us learn about our home
And traditions we adore.
We designed our very own plates,
With patterns bold and bright,
Then used some clay to make a kiln,
And shaped it just right!
We rolled and squeezed and smoothed the clay,
Just like we’d done before,
Using all the skills we learned
In Art lessons galore!
It was a trip we won’t forget,
We learned and had such fun,
Exploring our local area
Together as Year One!
