World of Wedgwood (Y3KR)

Year 3KR had a fantastic day exploring the wonderful world of pottery at the World of Wedgwood!

Our adventure began with an exciting tour of the factory, where we discovered how pottery is made. We watched skilled craftspeople carefully shape, decorate and finish pieces, learning about the many stages involved in turning clay into stunning works of art.

We also travelled back in time to learn about Josiah Wedgwood, the famous potter who transformed the pottery industry. We found out about his inspiring life, his innovative ideas and how his work helped make Stoke-on-Trent famous around the world as the heart of the pottery industry.

One of the highlights of the day was getting hands-on with clay ourselves! Just like Josiah Wedgwood, we had the opportunity to create our own pots using a real pottery wheel. It was great fun learning how to shape the spinning clay, and we quickly discovered that being a potter takes patience, skill and creativity.

The trip helped us understand why Stoke-on-Trent became known as "The Potteries" and gave us a real appreciation for the craftsmanship and history that have made our city famous. We returned to school full of new knowledge, exciting memories and a few budding potters among us!
