Year 5 and 6 Poetry Morning
Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a fantastic Poetry Morning, celebrating creativity, imagination and a love of language.
Throughout the morning, the children explored a range of poetry styles, including haikus, shape poems and free verse. Taking inspiration from exciting themes such as dragons, castles, medieval times and Alice in Wonderland, they experimented with vocabulary, imagery and poetic techniques to create their own original poems.
The morning culminated in a special assembly, where selected children had the opportunity to perform their poems in front of an audience. We were delighted to welcome one of our school governors, Amanda Davis, who kindly joined us to judge the performances. Amanda also generously lent us a selection of costumes, which helped the children bring their poems and characters to life on stage.
It was wonderful to see the children sharing their writing with such enthusiasm, confidence and expression, and a brilliant way to celebrate poetry across Years 5 and 6.
