Middleport Pottery (Y1AF)
Year 1AF have enjoyed their educational visit at Middleport pottery!
We were really delighted to see a genuine pottery factory after learning all about Our Local Area in Geography, since we know that this is highly important in Stoke on Trent. We explored the gardens on a heritage path, heard a Stokie tale about Netty painting with a magical paintbrush, and even had the opportunity to create our own clay Pot Banks. The children loved making their own clay bottle kiln after being inside a real one at the factory. We concluded our day by having a snack by the canal while talking about how the Burleigh pottery used to be transported to Liverpool by narrow boats.
