Middleport Pottery (Y1EL)
Year 1EL have had the most fantastic trip to Middleport Pottery!
After learning all about Our Local Area in Geography, we were super excited to visit a real pottery factory as we understand that this is very important in Stoke on Trent. We went on a heritage trail to explore the grounds, listened to a Stokie story whereby Netty was painting with a magical paintbrush and we even got the chance to make our own Pot Banks using clay. A particular favourite part of our day was going inside a real bottle kiln - we counted 11 chimneys that were used to heat it up! We ended our day with a lovely piece of fruit by the canal whilst discussing how the Burleigh pottery used to get sent on narrow boats up to Liverpool.
